Soderbergh challenges his film-making abilities through this nifty supernatural story filmed completely from the perspective of the spirit. This Self-Referential Film

The iconic actor wholeheartedly adopts his unique fame in this autobiographical spoof. Contacted by the CIA to gather intel on the potential kingpin, his โ€œnouveau shamanic acting abilityโ€ proves useful. October 11th, evening, the Channel 4 network

This Creepy Thriller

The director's locked-room horror holds up well even without a continuation. Set in the late 70s in Denver, a series of child abductions has made the local kids frightened. When Finney is kidnapped by the villain and locked up in a cellar, he anticipates a fatal end. However, the non-functional line mounted nearby keeps ringing, with spooky callers giving advice, as the intuitive nightmares of his sister Gwen may be his salvation. An effective horror. Saturday 11 October, 10.50pm, Film4

The Eyes of Tammy Faye

In the conflict between faith and wealth, it's a knockout win for Mammon in this director's wonderfully garish biopic regarding the shamed TV preacher and her felon spouse. The actor portrays the corrupt Bakker, who proclaims early on, โ€œGod does not want us to be poor,โ€. Both individuals begin profiting from the people's religious faith. It's a spectacle of bad interior design, overdone appearance and insincerity, though Jessica Chastain manages to present the character with compassion. Tuesday 14 October, 1.15am, on Film4

Black Bag

This week's additional entry by the same director is a spy mystery as sharp like the turtlenecks sported by the actor's intelligence officer. His assignment is with uncovering a mole within their ranks from a group of five โ€“ among them is his spouse. Tom Burke, Regรฉ-Jean Page, Naomie Harris and Marisa Abela take part the smart espionage amusement. This Friday, 8.05am, 12.55pm, 8pm, the Sky channel
